Originally from the Caribbean, Mentos moved to the Boston area in 1979 and spent the following years attending Cape Cod Conservatory and performing as a steel drummer extensively throughout the region. Influenced by drummers Sly Dunbar and Calton Barrett, his music has hints of Reggae, Calypso and Soul throughout.

His band, The New Horizon, plays frequently in the North East including opening credits for Jimmy Cliff and backing credits for Jimmy Buffett. Mentos’ solo recording debut is entitled ‘Step Into The Weekend’ and he is continuing to appear regionally in support of this 2003 release.
